“In need of a driver for the Monster Road Rally, Count Dracula (voiced by Hamilton Camp) transforms Shaggy (voiced by Casey Kasem) into a werewolf and tells him he’s been chosen to drive in the monsterrific cross-country road race. The reluctant Shaggy agrees -- under the condition that if he wins, Dracula will turn him back into his human state. Dracula accepts the offer, and Shaggy and Scooby (both voiced by Don Messick) hit the road against such scary competitors as Frankenstein and the Mummy.” — Netflix.com

Review:

This movie was a bit of a disappointment for me. The cartoons starring Shaggy, Scooby, Scrappy and no one else from the Mystery Gang are my least favorite of the Scooby-Doo!animated movies : series and this movie, unfortunately, falls into that category. My main complaint with these is that there is no mystery, which is probably why the Mystery Gang is not there. Even though the mysteries are mostly ridiculous, featuring over-the-top costumes to pull off crazy capers, I enjoy the original mysteries the best. This movie relied mainly on slapstick and really stupid jokes to fill the time and I just wasn’t entertained. The monsters were really silly, which was good, as it means that children are not too scared to watch it, but I was not impressed. I held on, hoping that, once the race actually began, it would get better, but it didn’t. It was tough to hang on and watch it until the end. I probably wouldn’t have stuck it out, except I really do love Scooby-Doo! That said, I know that children really love this movie and laugh a lot during it as they think all of the stupid pranks are hilarious. So, I would give this movie 2 stars for an adult, but probably 3+ stars for children. If you are not going to be in the room while your kids are watching it, this is a clean, cheap choice to entertain them with.

Content:

This movie features a lot of Halloween-type monsters that are silly and goofy rather than scary and spooky. There is cartoon-style violence and situations that could be perceived as scary, but I don’t think any children will be scared. Appropriate for viewers of all ages.
