I did not like the way they chose to bring Poirot’s character to life and definitely feel like I was missing the prissiness, the pride that Poirot takes in his appearance and character, and the more gentle treatment of his suspects. A good portion of the movie involves Poirot interviewing each passenger individually and I did not like the way he handled some of the interviews. He was deliberately insulting to some of the guests to try to force them into revealing information and I always thought of Poirot as more of a persuader. He gets in under your skin, catches you off guard, and then he has you!

I have a problem with the above statement. Mind you, my only complaint about Albert Finney's performance is that he had a tendency to exaggerate Poirot's Continental traits - like many British and American actors tend to do. This is something that both Peter Ustinov and David Suchet managed to avoid, due to the fact that both came from countries outside of Great Britain.

However, this complaint about Poirot's interrogation methods does not hold water with me. He seemed to be utilizing different methods in order to deal with the different personalities of the suspects.
